A wildly different way to book storage
Family days out often come with a whole host of baggage. Coats, holdalls, carriers – all those essentials you need but don’t really want to hump around. Especially when you’re out to have some fun.
That’s one of the reasons we created Zodiac Go! We wanted to show that booking and using storage doesn’t have to be a hassle. Done well, it can feel like part of the whole experience. So to prove it, we put Zodiac Go! to the test in one of the UK’s best-loved zoos, Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Telford, United Kingdom, and let everyone see what it could do.
The Challenge
Taking the friction out of locker hire
Research showed that a lot of existing locker systems offered a user experience that felt generic and disconnected from the venue around them.
While booking a locker might seem like a small part of someone’s day, a lot of the time it can feel like a clunky add-on – especially when parents arrive at a busy attraction complete with children and belongings in tow.
We wanted to create something different: a locker booking journey designed around the user right from the start – something that made everyone’s day easier, not harder. Our ambition was to make the experience intuitive, engaging and enjoyable, while giving operators the control they needed to manage their locker service and maybe even create an additional income stream, too.
The solution

Installation at Hoo Zoo provided the perfect opportunity for Zodiac Go! With no existing storage, but a clear demand from visitors, we put our system to the test in a very busy, family-focused environment.
Booking couldn’t be easier. Visitors can choose to either book at the Hoo Zoo branded booking terminal or they can use their mobile phones to simply scan one of the many QR codes located around the locker bank and follow the instructions. It’s so easy, in fact, booking only takes around 30 seconds to complete, while all those who have booked have completed everything without the need for assistance.
What’s more, Hoo Zoo has plans to make things easier still by adding a booking link to their website and emails, allowing people to reserve storage before they arrive.
Zodiac Go! brings the lockers, booking journey and payment processes all together in one. Visitors can book, pay and store their belongings – then just get on with their day. While our cloud-based platform gives Hoo Zoo the tools to manage everything quickly and easily behind the scenes.

An unexpected benefit
Turning service into revenue
When the system was first considered by Hoo Zoo, they wanted to make their visitors’ day more enjoyable. However, Zodiac Go!’s paid-booking model has also created an additional income stream. Every time visitors pay a small charge to hire a locker, Hoo Zoo receives an agreed percentage of the transaction.
The whole system is also incredibly flexible. Rate cards give operators the option to vary their charges by locker size, booking duration, special dates or promotions.

As well as supporting the visitor journey, Zodiac Go! is designed to give operators a clearer view of their locker provision.
